As y'all may know (I give it away every time, y'all), I live in the great state of Texas. Summers become UNBEARABLE, it becomes crazy hot and humid, both of which makes for an extremely uncomfortable day.
My summer style centers around comfy, breezy clothing. Bun day becomes every day in this heat. If I'm going to be inside, I let my hair down and wear simple necklaces to add some accessories to my outfits. Big statement necklaces are a definite no-no for me, especially during the summer because I'd be a hot, sweaty mess with it. If I know I'm going to be outdoors most of the day, I don't wear any necklaces to save myself from sweating all over them (TMI but #letsbehonest). I live in Tory Burch Miller Sandals & caged sandals.
I'm sharing my essential summer style, general categories of outfits that I wear outside of work: The Romper, The Maxi Dress, Dressy Shorts + Caged Sandals, The Maxi Skirt & The Breezy Dress.
The Romper
When it comes to rompers, I love ones with interesting design or structure. I would prefer to wear cotton or linen, something more breathable. Unfortunately, this particular romper is more of a polyester fabric so it's definitely not breathable. I would wear this one inside more than an outside outfit.
I found this adorable romper from a local Dallas boutique called Milleigh Francis. I have recently started to love, love, LOVE boutique stores, they have more unique pieces. I haven't seen it pop up on their website, but you can find similar styles here & here.
The Maxi Dress
Maxi Dress: Charming Charlie | Belt: Random one in my closet | Sandals: Tory Burch
Maxi dresses are my absolute favorite pieces for summer. I feel so regal and chic in them (spot of tea, anyone?) and they are an easy outfit to put together. I love the neckline of this particular maxi dress, which I'm sure you know since I have shown it on my social media like a million times... I exaggerate but you know I love it.
Dress Shorts + Caged Sandals
Top: LOFT | Shorts: Milleigh Frances | Caged Sandals: Dolce Vita [similar] | Sunglasses: Plastic Tail | Crossbody: Dagne Dover
I have recently started loving dressy, flowy shorts + heeled, caged sandals. I'm not as fit as I used to be so body hugging, high waisted denim shorts are just not for me at the moment. I have been loving more loose shorts, half tucked in tee and sandals. Super comfy yet put together.
The Maxi Skirt
Top: LOFT | Maxi Skirt: Ann Taylor | Sandals: Tory Burch | Sunglasses: Plastic Tail | Necklace: Bauble Bar [similar] | Crossbody: Henri Bendel
Going along with the maxi dress is the maxi skirt. This particular maxi skirt I purchased from Ann Taylor a couple of years ago but it has continued to come out over the past couple years. When I wear a maxi skirt, I love rolling up a regular tee. Super comfortable and chic..... as you can tell, comfort has a lot to do with my style.
The Breezy Dress
Dress: ShopSosie | Sandals: Tory Burch
Last but not least is the breezy shift dress. Y'all know I stocked up this year on these types of dresses (since my recent haul video, I've actually purchased another one lol). They are just so easy, effortless, comfortable & chic.... everything I love in an outfit. Especially on those days when you either don't want to take time to think of an outfit, feel a little bloated or uncomfortable, just throw on one of these dresses with some sandals and call it a day.
I really hope y'all enjoyed this lookbook. It's my very first one so I'm excited and nervous about it, just curious to hear what y'all think of these kinds of videos from me. These days I feel like I'm more interested in style than beauty. I would appreciate any feedback y'all have on these kinds of videos. Big thank you to my supportive husband and mom for helping me film!
