If you've been following my vlogs then these updates won't be a huge surprise to you. BUT if you don't, that's okay too :) I wanted to share with my blog friends how we finished one side of the closet.
More exciting news, I bought the final pieces to complete the other wall of my room from the Container Store (shocker, I know, branching out from the IKEA family) so another update will be coming within the next couple months... I just need to catch Mike on a good weekend so he can put it up for me otherwise I'd have massive holes all over my wall.... If you're looking to get a closet system started, the Container Store is having 30% off elfa, which is what I bought, until February 15th.
For the last piece of this wall, I wanted a section to hang my longer wardrobe pieces. We used the same exact brackets. The rods and shelves are the exact same as the tops/bottoms section except they're just a little smaller.
What You'll Need:
(2) 43 1/4 Inch IKEA LACK Shelves - $30
(4) Everbilt Heavy Duty Closet Rod Brackets - $32
(2) Everbilt Heavy Duty Rod End Caps - $6

We (by "we" I mean Mike) started by finding the studs in the wall and drilling the rod brackets to the stud with heavy duty nails. Mike started with the bottom shelf, just be sure you measure how much space you want in between the shelves so that the top shelf lines up with the top of the bookcase.
Because the IKEA LACK shelves are more narrow than the bracket, we had to leave a small space between the shelf and wall. Mike screwed the bottom of the shelf to the bracket so it doesn't move around. Then repeat these steps for the top shelf and that's it! I make it sound easy but it was a little bit difficult getting the shelves lined up. Overall I am loving this wall and it makes getting ready in the morning so much easier with all my clothes out in the open.
I finally found a chandelier that I love! I wanted something blingy but more modern looking than most of the chandeliers I had seen. I love the lights being on the inside of the strings of crystals. It is definitely the focal point of the room right now! I got it on sale at a local lighting store, Lee's Lighting in Arlington, TX. This is the Impact Imperial Chandelier in silver (style #40543) by James R Moder. Mike installed it and wired it all up (seriously, that man is the best...) then we had to hang up each and every beautiful strand ourselves. The chandelier is 30" long not including the mount and chain which probably adds 6" in height. I just clear it as I walk below it but Mike definitely would walk right into it. We plan to move the DIY island underneath it soon so that will get rid of our problem.
Stay tuned for upcoming updates! I'm on the final stretch :) Catch up on my other dressing room updates here.
Wow, it came out great! I'm so jelly of your dressing room! :)

I LOVE that chandelier! Your closet/dressing room really is stunning. I have a love/hate relationship with IKEA shelves. We set up our hobby room with all IKEA several years ago and it was a sincere pain to put up, and the fiberboard shelves kept disintegrating under the drill. But in the end, we had a professional come do it and it ended up really great, and we got a lot of use out of it all - drawers, shelving, tables, hanging wall thingies and even a rack that folded down. You have great style! Nice to meet you!
ReplyDeleteGeez, I wish I had a closet big enough to fit a freakin' chandelier in it... hahaha, you're so lucky! I"m jealous!
